The Myth of Dirce is a commentary on the archaic nature of crime and punishment in the United States. In particular, this work is about women executed and awaiting execution- the prints hang from the horns of a steer skull, reflecting the original Greek myth of Dirce, the wife of Lycus and aunt of Antiope, who was killed by being tied to the horns of a raging wild bull as punishment for her misdeeds.
