Printmedia > Pedestrian Entry

This print series juxtaposes a photo of the US/Mexico border wall with a silkscreen composite of my petition for asylum.

For the first time in 35 years, in the summer of 2021 I saw a copy of my asylum papers and I got stand by the border that my family crossed undocumented as war refugees. According to my Request for Asylum in the United States form, my arrival to the US occurred on June 4, 1987, at the port of Tijuana, I was not inspected, and I was classified as an "Other (Specify) War Refugee" whose means of arrival was "Pedestrian Entry."

Prints exhibited at the Refugees pop-up exhibit, curated by Edward Bernstein, at SGCI 2021 UW Madison.
